Microcorduroy is a cotton fabric that is characterized by having ribs or channels that run in the direction of the length of the fabric. These ribs are made by raising the warp threads and weaving them with the weft threads in a specific pattern. The number of ribs or channels per inch is called wale. Although there is no universally accepted definition, microcorduroy is considered to have around 16 to 21 wales per inch, while traditional corduroy usually has between 10 and 16 wales per inch. This microcorduroy has 21 wales per inch.
It is commonly used to make winter clothing such as jackets, pants, skirts, coats, and suits.
